Terms of Use of Metrobank Online

Please read the following Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) before using our Metrobank Online (“Facility”). By using the Facility, you are deemed to have carefully read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and all the terms and conditions that may apply to the accounts or services, which you may avail of through the Facility.

In these Terms, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Corporation (“Metrobank”) refers to “us” or “we” or “our” and ‘you’ or ‘your’ refers to you as an individual account holder and user of the Facility.

Terms and Conditions

Nature of Facility

You acknowledge that the use of the Facility is a privilege, which may be availed of for so long as we are offering it and you are qualified to avail of it. We do not guarantee the availability of the Facility and the banking products and services offered through it as these may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, relevant cut-off times, or computer, telecommunications or electrical failure, or for various causes beyond our control.

The Facility allows you to access and send instructions in respect of your savings, loans, deposits, credit card, investments, and our other accounts with us (“Accounts”) and avail of certain banking products and services (“Banking Services”).

Banking Services are subject to our specific conditions, fees, and charges applicable to the product or services. We reserve the right to modify the scope, add, remove, suspend or discontinue Banking Services offered through the Facility. We will endeavor to provide sufficient notice reasonable under the circumstances.

You understand that the use of the Facility, availing of Banking Services, and sending instructions may require any of the following-- Personal Identification Number (PIN) of any kind, Card Verification Code (CVC), Card Verification Value (CVV) Card, Customer/User ID, Passwords, and One Time Password (OTP), authorization codes, fingerprint, facial recognition or other biometric modalities (collectively, referred to as “Access Codes”).

Proprietary Interest

Subject to your full compliance with these Terms, we are giving you a non-exclusive and non-transferrable temporary license to use the Facility for its intended purpose. You recognize that the Facility, other materials or information provided to you, and all rights, trademarks, and interest contained therein belong to third parties or us. You further agree not to copy, sell, assign, transfer, disassemble, decompile, reverse-engineer the Facility or allow anyone else to do so.


Although we have set reasonable safeguards to ensure our Facility is secured, we cannot guarantee that it will be free from any security risk, unauthorized access, interruption, errors, viruses or other malicious, or corrupting code or that any defect will be corrected. We will continually monitor security threats and take appropriate action, exercising the care reasonably expected of a bank in providing similar services.

To prevent any unauthorized access, you agree to comply with the following security procedures: (a) to ensure that you will only access the Facility using secured computers or devices with adequate protection against viruses or malwares; (b) to keep your Access Codes confidential and take steps to prevent unauthorized disclosure; (c) to log-on only to our official website and not access any suspicious links to prevent, phishing, pharming, or other cyber-attacks; (d) not to allow anyone else to use the Facility or your Access Codes on your behalf; (e) to regularly change your password and PIN; (f) to check if there are any unauthorized enrolled device or fingerprint, facial data or other biometrics on your device; (g) not to use password or PIN that are readily accessible personal data such as name, birthdate, address or phone number; or an obvious combination of letters and numbers, including sequential numbers (e.g. 123456); (h) not to keep a written copy of your passwords or PIN; (i) to log out after every session; (j) to immediately inform us if you have reason to believe that your Access Code has been compromised or there was any security breach; and (k) to comply with our security recommendations or advisories.

You agree that any access to the Facility and instructions effected using your Access Codes shall be final and binding against you. You are solely responsible for any loss or damage arising from any unauthorized access to the Facility or disclosure of your Access Code, with or without your participation, or in case you have acted in error, fraudulently, negligently or failed to comply with the security procedures under these Terms.


You agree that we will only process instructions validly received and authenticated using your Access Code. Any instruction using the Facility shall be considered received only when you receive our confirmation or we had executed such instruction.

Your Access Codes serve as your authorization for us to implement your instruction using the Facility. Any instruction shall be deemed correct, complete, irrevocable, authorized and binding against you once authenticated using the Access Code, even if such Access Code were not actually given or authorized by you. Except for verification of your Access Codes, we are not obligated to investigate the authority of the person sending the instructions or to verify its authenticity, accuracy, or completeness.

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all instructions and information given by you using the Facility. Although not obliged, we may verify an instruction through any method we deem fit, if we have reason to believe that there is error, fraud, breach of security.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient funds in your Accounts for us to process your instructions. You will be liable for any penalties or charges that will be imposed arising from the non-processing of your instruction due to insufficient funds, closed or dormant Account/s, or court or regulatory order, which prohibits any transaction to your Accounts.

We may at any time and without prior notice, cancel or refuse to execute any instruction based on our reasonable judgment, without incurring any liability.

Electronic Instructions

For certain Banking Services, we may require you to accomplish certain instructions electronically or provide your electronic signature. By clicking or selecting buttons or icons with “I accept,” “I agree,” or any words with similar import, you agree that you are signing an agreement with us electronically. You also confirm that your electronic signature is the legal equivalent of your actual, handwritten or wet ink signature and no further certification or third party verification is necessary to validate or enforce your electronic signature as long as our internal authentication processes are complied with,

You further agree to receive, obtain, and/or submit certain documents, notices and information electronically through your registered electronic email and mobile number.

Limit on Liability

We will not be liable for any loss or damage of whatever nature, arising from or in connection with the following: (a) disruption, delay, or inability to use the Facility due to circumstances beyond our control such as (i) problems due to electricity, telecommunications, or internet service provider; (ii) jail-breaking, rooting or any other modifications or conversions made in the devices; or (iii) the uploading of unauthorized file and/or script, installation and/or the presence of malicious software (including malware, viruses and/or bugs) on your mobile device and/or computer to capture Account Code; (iv) the use of unsupported mobile device operating system (OS) versions, making it vulnerable to attacks; (b) unauthorized transactions or instructions due to theft or unauthorized disclosure of your Account Code or violation of the security procedures, with or without your direct participation; or (c) for any inaccurate, incomplete, or delayed information from you; or (d) other causes which effectively prevents us from implementing any Instruction or comply with our obligations.

You agree to hold us free and harmless and to indemnify us from any losses, liabilities, suits, damages, claim, and/or any other expenses, cases of whatever nature arising from or in connection with the implementation of your Instructions, or your breach of these Terms.

Collection, Verification, and Sharing of Personal Information

You agree to the collection, recording, sharing, and use of your personal information, in accordance with Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, for the following purposes: (a) to implement your instructions; (b) for legal or regulatory purposes; and (c) for verification and security purposes. You agree that your continued access into the Facility will constitute as your continuing consent under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and acceptance of Metrobank’s Privacy Policy, as the same may be revised or updated from time to time. Fees and Charges

We may, by prior notice, change the fees and charges for the use of the Facility and availment of Banking Services. You authorize us to debit your Accounts as payment for such fees and charges. If there are insufficient funds in your Accounts, we may either refuse to implement your instructions or debit fees and charges from any account you maintain with us.


We may modify these Terms at any time by providing you with sufficient written or electronic notice. Any changes to these Terms will be posted in our website. You agree that your continued use of the Facility is subject to your acceptance of these Terms as may be amended from time to time.

Duty to Verify and Update Records

You are responsible for verifying records of your Accounts and instructions sent and processed through the Facility. You should reconcile your records and statements to ensure that there are no errors or unauthorized transactions.

You should pay close attention to the following details in your Statement of Account/s (“SOA”): (a) Personal information: (b) Account balances; (c) Details of bank transactions; (d) Details of the scanned negotiated checks, such as the date, amount, payee, drawer’s signatures & endorsement, etc. If you notice any error, you must advise us immediately through our various customer care channels. If we do not receive any complaint or advice, within 30 days from statement date, the SOA will be considered valid and complete. We will assume that you have waived your right to complain or raise any issue on any matter contained in the SOA,

Except for manifest error, you agree that our records of any instruction processed through the Facility is final, conclusive and binding you. For accounts with passbooks, you agree that the amount of balance shown in your passbook will not be conclusive, unless we had verified and updated your passbook. In the event of discrepancy between entries in your passbook and our records, our records shall prevail.

Notices and SOAs sent to your registered contact details (i.e. address, mobile numbers, email address) shall be considered actually delivered. It is your responsibility to update us in case of any change to your registered contact details. We will not be liable for any loss or damage, or breach of confidentiality or any consequences in connection with or as a result of your failure to update us with any change in your contact details.


In connection with a Banking Service, improving service quality or helping resolve any dispute, you agree that we may record our telephone conversations or video conference, keep a record of all your instructions, and store all our correspondences and conversations in accordance with applicable laws and internal policies. We may also use any of these to assist us in resolving any dispute or use them as evidence before courts or regulatory bodies.

Termination or Suspension of Access

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Facility in case: (a) you are in breach of these Terms or any other agreement with us; (b) you have forgotten your Access Codes; (c) it is required to comply with any legal or regulatory obligation, order of a competent court or our internal policies and procedures; (d) you are insolvent; (e) you mishandle or close your Accounts; (f) your Accounts may have been used or are being used for any fraudulent or illegal transactions or activities, such as but not limited to violation of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing laws; (g) such action is required to protect our system from harm, including any form of denial of service attack or from viruses or malicious codes; (h) you have been inactive for more than one (1) year from last access; or (i) in our judgment, your continued access to the Facility may expose us to any commercial, reputational, legal, regulatory or other risks. Unless law or our policies prevent us from doing so, we will provide you with sufficient prior notice reasonable under the circumstances.

Consent to the Terms and Conditions

You also agree to be bound by all applicable laws, rules, regulations and issuances applicable to the Facility and the Accounts. These Terms are also subject to our Deposit Terms and Conditions, specific conditions governing the relevant Banking Service and our Privacy Policy as may be amended from time to time.

Governing Law

Philippine laws govern these Terms and parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of Makati courts.
