
When you see “Client”, “You” and “Your” refers to you, the person who opens the Metrobank eSavings account through Metrobank Online app or web, Earnest app or any accredited partner channel (“Platform”).
When you see “Metrobank”, “We”, “Our” and “Us” refers to our company, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company.
By proceeding with your online account opening with Metrobank and/or accessing your Metrobank eSavings Account (“Account”), you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions below:
You signify that you are a Filipino, a resident of the Philippines and at least 18 years old.
If you do not meet all of the above, you may still open a regular account at any Metrobank branch. If you are already an existing Metrobank account holder, our representative will have to confirm your identity and application by getting in touch with you through your verified contact information. This is to safeguard your existing account against possible account hijacking attempts by unscrupulous individuals. You may only open one Metrobank eSavings account via our Platform.
The Account shall be used exclusively for personal purpose. If Metrobank finds out that the Account will be used or is being used for business purpose, you will be directed to open a separate account in your chosen branch or to convert the said Account into a business account.
You shall provide the required information together with the supporting documents as part of Metrobank’s Know Your Client (KYC) procedure to enable us to process your Account opening online. After the initial assessment, you may be required to submit additional documents or be directed to a Metrobank branch to complete your application.

Except for Philippine National ID (PhilSys), you shall ensure that the submitted ID contains your own signature.
By clicking or selecting buttons or icons with “I accept,” “I agree” or any words with similar import, you agree that you are signing the Terms and Conditions with us electronically and such electronic signature is the legal equivalent of your actual or handwritten or wet ink signature. You also agree to receive, obtain, and/or submit documents, notices, and other information electronically through your designated email address or mobile number. While we have set reasonable safeguards, we do not guarantee that transactions and notices sent electronically will be free from any security risks, interruption, error, or delays. You are aware of and accept such risks. If you are uncomfortable with any of this, you may visit the nearest branch to open an account manually.
The information, materials or documents you submitted and/or uploaded about yourself are correct, trustworthy, accurate, updated and complete. In the event that there would be changes in your KYC details in the future, you shall immediately inform Metrobank for such change.
You authorize Metrobank to use such information, materials and documents for authentication purposes and to share them with our third-party identity verification service provider, to independently verify your identity and your credentials to open and maintain the Account.
Your Account will have an initial balance limit of P30,000 while we verify your application. We will remove this limit once we complete our verification process.
You will be advised on the status of your Account opening within 2 banking/business days from completion of your online application, through your verified email address or mobile number.
Your Account is governed by Metrobank’s Deposit Terms and Conditions as set forth on our official website (https://www.metrobank.com.ph/articles/application-requirements). You confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by the Deposit Terms and Conditions as may be amended from time to time, and other terms and conditions, laws, rules, and regulations applicable to your Account.
You agree to maintain a minimum average daily balance (ADB) of P2,000 every month, and will accept the applicable service fee if the ADB does not reach the minimum for two consecutive months.
You agree that we can immediately close your Account if it has not been funded within the first 7 calendar days upon account opening or has a zero balance for 90 calendar days.
Your Metrobank eSavings Account is subject to a monthly incoming limit as described in the Metrobank Rates and Fees page of the website (https://www.metrobank.com.ph/articles/deposit-rates-and-fees). We may occasionally change this limit upon giving you reasonable notice. The monthly incoming limit is the maximum amount we can credit to your Account from deposits, fund transfers, and remittances, whether local or international, every month. Your incoming limit refreshes and restarts every first day of the month.
Your Metrobank eSavings account is entitled to receive up to four (4) InstaPay rebates each month. These rebates will be credited to your account in the succeeding month. Please note that we may update the features of your Metrobank eSavings account from time to time. Your Metrobank eSavings account earns interest on a daily basis, computed from your end-of-day balance. The interest amount will be credited to your account on the following day, net of applicable taxes, provided that your account meets the minimum balance requirement to earn interest. You shall keep your user ID, password and PIN/OTP (“Password”) for accessing your Account safe, secure and confidential. You shall be responsible for the security and protection of your Account and must notify us immediately if you become aware of the unauthorized use of your said password and/or Account or any other security breach relating to your Account.
You shall not use the Account for any fraudulent or unlawful purpose or in a manner not expressly authorized by these Terms and Conditions.
You shall not use the Account for any virtual asset-related activities. This includes activities that directly or indirectly facilitate transactions for trading cryptocurrency/digital currency, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and other virtual assets.
We can reject your online application, suspend, deactivate, close your Account or hold any transaction, without notice to you, if we discover that the information or supporting document you provided is false or untrue or you committed misrepresentation or if we reasonably believe that the Account is used for suspicious activity or transaction or if Metrobank is of the opinion that the continuation of the Account is prejudicial to our interest. For this purpose, you hereby authorized Metrobank to conduct further verification of any information you provided to us even after your online application has already been processed and/or your Account has already been opened. You agree that Metrobank shall not be liable for the consequences arising out of such rejection, suspension, or closure of the Account. In case of rejection of your online application, we have the right to retain all documents you submitted.
By submitting data to us, you consent that all personal data that you submit may be used, handled, processed and stored by us in accordance with our Privacy Policy (https://www.metrobank.com.ph/articles/privacy-policy), the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and other applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Although it is our intention for our Platform to be available to enable you to access your Account, as much as possible, there will be occasions when such access or use may be interrupted e.g. scheduled maintenance or upgrades or due to failure of telecommunications links and/or equipment. Metrobank shall not be liable for any connectivity/signal/data issues that may result in the non-completion or incomplete information or rejection of your online application or any transaction in your Account.
You agree that your statement of account will be accessible via online thru (https://statements.metrobank.com.ph/signin).
When transacting at Metrobank branches, you may be required to present any government issued IDs and additional documents as part of Metrobank’s Know Your Client (KYC) procedure. This process allows us to better facilitate your over-the-counter transactions. You might also be charged with applicable service fees for deposits, withdrawals, ATM card requests, and other transactions as described in the Metrobank Rates and Fees page of the website (https://www.metrobank.com.ph/articles/deposit-rates-and-fees).
You shall be responsible for any damage resulting from any violation of these Terms and Conditions. You further agree to indemnify and hold Metrobank, its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates and subsidiaries free and harmless from any action, claim, or demand made by a third party due to or arising from your breach of this Agreement or violation of law, rules and regulations in connection with the use of any of our Platform to access your Account.
You agree that Metrobank is not liable for (a) any unauthorized use of data relating to the Account; (b) disruption, delay or inability to access your Account due to circumstances beyond METROBANK’s reasonable control such as prolonged power outages, problems due to hardware or software (including viruses and bugs), System related issues and maintenance (e.g. incompatibility, upgrade errors in the System), breakdown in telecommunication facilities, fires, typhoon, flood, earthquake or any other similar calamity or war, terrorism, revolution, riot, civil or military disorder, strike, lockout or other industrial action, acts of the government and other similar acts; (c) any improper, fraudulent, unauthorized transactions due to theft, unauthorized disclosure of the Security Profile or violation of the Protocol, with or without your participation; or (d) inaccurate, incomplete or delayed information due to disruption or System failure; or (e) other causes, which effectively prevents METROBANK from implementing an instruction or complying with our obligations.
Metrobank will not be liable (whether in negligence or otherwise) to you for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit/revenue or anticipated savings, business interruption, loss of chance or business opportunity, loss of or damage to goodwill or reputation, claims by a third party for liquidated sums or damages under any agreement, or loss of production or operating time (even if you have advised us of their possibility).
We reserve the right at our sole discretion to deny anyone access to your Account (or any part thereof) without notice and to decline to provide our services to anyone that is in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions represent the entire agreement between you and us with respect to your Account and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous oral or written agreements concerning subject matter contained herein. Your continuous use of the Metrobank eSavings account constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and all subsequent amendments.
No failure of either you or us to exercise or enforce any rights under these Terms and Conditions will act as a waiver of those rights.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the validity, legality and enforceability of the other provisions of these Terms and Conditions will not be affected.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by Philippine laws. All disputes arising from or pursuant to these Terms and Conditions shall be resolved before the courts of Makati and you agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of such courts.
