Frequently Asked Questions

Know more about UITF

What is Net Asset Value Per Unit (NAVPU)?

The Net Asset Value Per Unit (NAVPU) represents the per-unit market value of a Unit Investment Trust Fund (UITF). NAVPU allows you to compare how different schemes are trading, despite the different prices. It is calculated by dividing the total net assets of the fund by the number of outstanding units of participation.

How is the NAVPU computed?

NAVPU is derived using below formula:

NAVPU = (Fund Assets – Fund Liabilities) / Number of Outstanding Units

This calculation reflects the total market value of each unit in the fund, net of expenses and liabilities based on prevailing market conditions and asset revaluation.

How do I determine and interpret the NAVPU for my UITF investment?

To estimate the current market value of your UITF investment, multiply the NAVPU by the total number of units you own:

Current Investment Value = NAVPU × Number of Units Held

A UITF’s NAVPU fluctuates as it reflects changes in the market valuation of the fund’s underlying assets. As a result, the value of your investment will vary in response to market movements and fund performance.

What is a UITF’s Year-to-Date Return on Investment (YTD ROI)?

This refers to the percentage gain that your UITF investment has generated since the beginning of the current calendar year (January 1st) up to the date you are checking.

In simpler terms, it tells you how much your UITF investment has grown in value compared to its starting value at the start of the calendar year.

What is a UITF’s Year-on-Year Return on Investment (YOY ROI)?

This measures the percentage gain your UITF investment has generated for the past 1 year from date of reference.
