Metrobank lauded as Outstanding Personal Information Controller of 2021

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) garnered accolades in the first-ever Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) Awards of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

As recognition to its exemplary Data Privacy initiatives and practices, Metrobank is named as one of the Outstanding Personal Information Controllers of 2021 in the Private Sector category. This major award is given to institutions whose Data Privacy practices incorporate a customer-centric approach, thus promoting visibility and transparency in all their platforms.

“Being in the banking business for almost six decades, our customers have been entrusting us not just with their wealth, but with their personal data as well,” said Metrobank Chief Data Protection Officer, Atty. Kayzer Saba. “By fostering the highest standard of privacy in all aspects of our business, we assure our customers that their personal data is always in good hands with Metrobank,” added Saba.

Apart from the major award, Metrobank’s #YourPersonalDataIsInGoodHands Data Privacy program was nominated as Privacy Initiative of 2021. This award recognizes data privacy-related programs and activities that are focused on securing stakeholder data. The bank’s Chief Data Protection Officer, Atty. Kayzer Saba was also a finalist for the Privacy Advocate of 2021 award.

“We are honored by the recognition of the National Privacy Commission. They can continue to count on Metrobank to be an active participant in nation building, especially in this fast-changing digital world, through our established data privacy and protection programs," Saba concluded.

The inaugural PAW Awards formed part of NPC’s 2021 Privacy Awareness Week celebration themed "Valuing Privacy in the Time of Digital Transformation: Protecting Filipinos. Promoting Economic Recovery. Building Trust." The awards aim to recognize outstanding privacy practices throughout different sectors.
